MABLETON – For a brief moment, Whitefield Academy appeared as if they would play with the No. 2 team in Class A.
Then, the second quarter started.
Eagles Landing Christian Academy (4-1, 2-0 in Region 5A) scored 27 unanswered points in a 12-minute span before halftime and cruised to a 61-6 victory at Wolfpack Stadium.
When asked what the Wolfpack (2-4, 1-2) would take from the game, coach Jimmy Fields said, “You don’t want to take (it), you want to leave that butt whipping.
“There are good things we can build on. We don’t have to search.”
Despite their dominant play, the game was marred with the officials’ laundry on the field from the opening kickoff. ELCA junior Keyante Green returned the kickoff about 75 yards, but it was called back due to a block in the back. On the ensuing play from the Chargers’ 45-yard line, a 50-yad run was brought back because of a holding penalty.
