Novel – 3

He walked into their lives and walked out just as soon. For some, it was a long, introductory conversation; exploring like and dislikes, musical tastes and a sample of the town nightlife experience.

Others experienced the cat at play, using words like a kitten players with a ball of string. Piecing together attitutdes with the precision of a pounce.

Moving quickly from epicenter to location, attention paid to all and nothing, but his eye never let her. Even more had the short, ‘bright light’ meeting. All it took was a simple opening like,

”Hello.”

And he took it and ran with it like a street racer; using the objects around him, similar to Kieser Sosa, to fragment a conversation topic. And then, just like that…

He was gone. Leaving no conclusion to the discussion or with tentative plans to meet later. An exit is all he needed.

It was a moonless night, unlike the one two days ago, when they when they finalized their love. He thought watching a lightning storm from Highburn Hill was romantic. Judy thought it senseless, but since she had waited this long for something more than the heavy petting that was a trip to the movies for the couple.

Call it first night jitters or lack of memory due to recent history, but it was subpar for both of them. Yes, everyone had one moment to look back on and smile, but obviously his seconds lasted longer than hers because he was eager to relive the previously night whereas she was preoccupied with the stupidity of ther bank insurance company and herself for rushing to a dumb conclusion.

Now, she was out $200 and hand no one to blame but herself.

”Not tonight, honey.”
