It was her courtroom and she made sure everyone in the house knew it. They called her names behind her back, but to her face, Phyllis was the most respected person in the courthouse. No bullshit.
”Luis Mocado?”
As many men passed before her eyes on any given day, she stayed single. Not that she didn’t like sex, she just liked it on her terms. That meant a few ground rules that had yet to find a repeat performer.
”Jared Nottingham?”
One time, she considered dating one of the peons that approached her. He was tall, strapping and had eyes you could get lost in. Then she looked at his case. Domestic violence. You could never get a break.
