Novel – 5

The door was closed, but it wasn’t locked, almost like something was blocking the hinges. Linda was purposely trying to be quiet, but she did take her heels off at the front door.

The click clack on the hardwood floors were good sometimes, but here it was “a spoiler to the purity of silence,” according to Ted.

Ted said a lot of things that went in one ear and out the other, but he pounded the silence things into her head right from the start. His explanations for anything were as wild as his hair and taste in music, but none of that mattered now.

Even a deaf monkey would have felt the vibrations, yet alone the echoes of whoever was in that room. Linda pondered her next step.

It was one of three options.

She could leave just like she came;

Open the door slightly and watch…

Or slip out her clothes and join in.

The last thought made her heart jump, but Momma raised a good girl, not a slut.
