BACK

In the bullpen, you sit and wait for a call that you watch being made.
You watch as a situation brews in front of you where you have no opportunity to affect the outcome.
Not until that call, at least.

It’s strange that time becomes your friend and your enemy, all in one.
Everyone wants to perform at their best, showcase skills in front of all: groupies, the boss, the Boss who pay for talent and the birds that will take your story from here to Pago Pago.
You want to shine in front of all of them. But the reality is if the phone rings, someone feels their back is against the wall.
You are inheriting pressure by picking up the phone.
The transfer can be quick and fires can get put out fast, but initially, the transfer is a complete release from one to another.
In the bullpen, the true question is what is worse – waiting or what awaits on the phone.
