Pasttime – 16

We’re adults, so we’re expected to get to the airport on our own. There is a team shuttle from the stadium since there are a lot more people that don’t get cardboard cutouts with their picture on it.

When I first came North, I caught the team shuttle. But as soon as I was settled, I took my personal transportation. Flying home after a bad road trip sucks. Adding an additional 60 minutes to it is worse.

As I walked from the parking deck, a man noticed me and gave ‘The Nod’. I returned it and he decided I was good enough to listen.

He gave praise to the city, happy with the food selection and the number that looked like him. Why is this sentiment OK when stated by a minority, but frowned upon for the majority?

A majority that’s focused on what is a social concept, not a scientific one. And yet the minorities focus on it as well.

I’m a first-generation American, but because of my appearance I don’t get the luxuries associated with that status. But, I guess it’s a different status depending on what status you or your parents have achieved.

If you come with money or have enough to understand its draw and power, one can coexist. An abundance and you can blindly be led into their closest circles, likely with Brutus talking after you leave.

Because in the end, it’s all about money. Or mammon.
