Pasttime – 111

So one time Lefty and I are at a downtown hotel and we are walking towards the elevators.

The far one beeps, so we both turn towards it. There’s no light on the top signifying which direction is next.

We continue on and the doors start to slowly close. I get there to open them and a family of three are standing stock still.

The woman on the right seemed to be the matriarch and it was as if she told her companions to freeze.

We got on and I signaled for the 5th floor, noticing they were headed to 12.

A floor up, it stops and lets on a mother-daughter combo; the younger blossoming before the elder’s eyes.

But they enter in quiet and choose the 16h floor.

The doors open and we step out. We’re not 10 feet down the hall before Lefty says,

“That was something weird, right?”
