Pasttime – 114

So instead of bashers lining up batting practice pitches, wouldn’t you tune in to watch a man race against a ball?

There are still logistics to work out, but you’d pit an interesting breed of athlete on either side.

On the one, you have runners. You have a man cutting corners in plain sight, speeding towards third base.

You get to see the athleticism of these guys because all of them won’t be leading guys. There are enough 5-tool athletes that would be up for the challenge.

Especially when they realize they’ll be running against an outfielder’s best throw.

During the regular season, a coach would have time to consider all the various scenarios. They would know the arm of the guy and judge what would be the best play.

They wouldn’t test certain guys based off reputations built from film. And sometimes, that’s regardless of where their guy is.

But in this event, there wouldn’t be a coach to stop anything.
