Online reviews are like opinions and assholes. Everyone has one, but not everyone takes Reggie Noble’s mama’s advice and washes their stankin’ ass.
We all, as a society, have seemingly decided that we’ll function off the opinions of others.
This is evident through use of the Yelp! App, through a litany of sites that source their opinions from the users themselves…
But rarely do people go online to write positive reviews.
That’s the expectation, and yet when that expectation is met; how many of us return and shout the praises to our ‘followers’?
The sheer fact that people ‘follow’ other people and the term is used as a sign of importance is a glaring eyesore on the highway towards the future.
And since we’re constantly looking towards the future, we’re quick to forget the past, quick to reconstruct and reconstitute the past as it fits us in the moment.
That’s why we are able to claim Christianity without any of the teaching being present. And dispute that despite the textual proof within the one source material we all have access to, this way is the way not that.
Interesting thoughts to have while waiting for my tire to be changed after I wrote a review stating my discontent with my car’s condition.
Would I be in the same situation without it? Would the manager personally emailed me and scheduled the appointment if I had not said something?
Would I not have gotten the same service if I had just come back as I planned to anyway?
And if I leaned in for a hug upon an initial meeting, could I have moved towards a light touch on the cheek at the end?
I’m wondering your opinion America. Let me know in the comments below.
